Today a few Democrats in New Hampshire along with a handful out-of-state anti-gun zealots sunk to an all new low (if that’s possible). They held a rally to continue their lies about Senator Ayotte and her vote on gun legislation. First they peddled the lie she didn’t vote on any legislation (they had to reign this one in). Now they are peddling the lie that the legislation she voted on didn’t call for stricter background checks (also not true). And again they are abusing shooting victims to propagandize their cause.
For the past few weeks, these same Democrats and out-of-state anti-gun zealots have been hammering Senator Kelly Ayotte for not voting “YEA” on the Toomey-Manchin gun legislation. They continually lie and claim she didn’t vote for stricter background checks and laws yet in fact Ayotte did when she voted for the Grassley-Cruz gun legislation. They continue to deceive New Hampshire residents with their baseless and sometimes despicable lies. All anyone has to do is read the two pieces of legislation and then review the votes.
The differences in the two bills really aren’t that much although you wouldn’t know that by listening to Democrats, their far left wing organizations or groups like Demand Action. Demand Action is a group led by Boston Mayor Tom Menino and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg. It’s a group that claims to want to rid our streets of illegal guns. Everyone in the country (other than criminals) want to rid it of illegal guns. For Demand Action to accuse anyone of believing otherwise is absurd. They are reprehensible for using school shooting victims as props to demand gun control that will not end school shootings; will not stop criminals from getting guns and will not stop gun crimes.
What the anti-gun crowd neglects are facts:
- Universal background checks already exist in this country. The majority of guns are purchased using this federal system.
- There are laws in place to prosecute gun crimes but they aren’t enforced as often as they should be by prosecutors. Both bills that were presented would enhance mental health additions to background checks.
The problem with the Toomey-Manchin bill is that it was far too vague. The law would have overreaching consequences that would directly hurt law-abiding citizens. The law could also allow for major abuses against law-abiding citizens. Neither law will stop a criminal intent on murder, massacre or obtaining guns.
And funny thing about Demand Action leaders – both New York and Massachusetts have much stricter gun laws than New Hampshire yet they both have higher gun crime rates. The fact is criminals love strict gun laws like in Menino and Bloomberg states because it breeds more victims for them. And while the anti-gun crowd is at it they should stop peddling the bogus left-leaning Public Policy Polling that claims 90% of Americans want more gun control. Even current and former New Hampshire Police Chiefs support Senator Ayotte’s vote.
Meanwhile according to the Bureau of Justice, gun murders have plummeted by almost 40% in the United States since the 1990s and crimes where guns are used has plummeted by almost 70%. All this while the number of legal gun owners has risen. If the anti-gun crowd wants to have an honest debate on how to curb gun violence, they need to bring facts to the table; stop lying about anyone who has a different view and stop abusing victims to further their cause (which is nothing more than gun control). Neither gun bill would have stopped the Sandy Hook shootings; gun crimes or criminals from getting guns.
