CANCER WALK-The Animal Cancer Foundation (ACF) is partnering with Veterinary Pet Insurance (VPI) to host the 3rd Annual VPI Pet Cancer Awareness Walk on Sunday, June 9 at Denver’s Washington Park. It wll be a 3K (1.8 miles) walk for both pets and people. Registration opens at 8 a.m. ($30-$40 per participant) and the walk starts at 9.
All registration fees will be donated to the Animal Cancer Foundation (ACF), a non-profit organization that strives to advance the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of cancer in pets and people. Registrants for the walk will receive entry to the K9K, a commemorative T-shirt, a bandanna for their dog, and post-event refreshments. STRAY CAT STRUT-Tickets are on sale for the 2013 Stray Cat Strut, befitting The Feline Fix in Denver, a program of Devine Feline. The event will be held Thursday, June 6 from 6-9 p.m. at the Wellshire Inn, 3333 S. Colorado Blvd, Denver. Tickets are $50 in advance or $60 at the door. There will be appetizers and cash bar, and a silent and live auction.

FIRE HYDRANT 5-The 23rd annual Fire Hydrant 5, 5K Walk/Run and Pet Expo is scheduled for Saturday, June 8 at Edora Park in Fort Collins. It is the community’s largest outdoor fundraiser for homeless pets in northern Colorado.
Proceeds will directly benefit the thousands of lost, stray, orphaned and injured animals Larimer Humane Society cares for each year. This year more than 850 participants and 600 dogs are expected to participate in the event with the hopes of raising more than $72,000.

MUSIC FOR ANIMAL GROUPS-Nine northern Colorado animal rescue groups, including Denkai Animal Sanctuary, will participate in the first annual Stove Prairie Ranch Benefit Concert featuring a solo acoustic performance by singer/songwriter Justin James. James is on tour this summer across the U.S. and offered to make a special stop in Colorado to play a benefit Sunday, June 9, noon to 5 p.m., for Animal Rescue of the Rockies.
The location will be Stove Prairie Ranch, 9116 Old Flowers Rd., Bellvue (about 1/2 hour west of Fort Collins).
