“This Little Piggy” kicks off with a therapy session. A regretful Deb and stressed and annoyed Dexter are talking to Vogel about the incident. Dexter is growing impatient, telling Deb that all he has done his whole life is protect and care for her. Even though Deb is sorry for trying to kill him, she insists that it was because of all she has had to deal with. Dex leaves the room with, “to hell with both of you.” Vogel explains to Deb that Dexter is not just angry, but really hurt by what Deb tried to do.
Meanwhile at Miami Metro, Masuka is telling his coworkers about his daughter. They tease him about it but he is very proud, telling Dex how happy he is that they are now both dads. Quinn though, warns Masuka that if family appears out of nowhere it usually means that they need something.
A briefing led by Quinn begins to find out who Norma’s killer could be. They gather a couple of suspects to look into. Quinn’s main suspect is Hamilton, and Matthews tells him to be respectful because the Hamilton’s are friends of Miami Metro.
Hamilton confesses to being Norma’s lover, and tells Quinn that his wife found out. He also adds that he loved Norma and would never hurt her. Hamilton’s son goes over to talk to Dexter before he leaves and tells Dex that although his dad isn’t a very nice guy, he isn’t a killer.
Vogel is at home when Yates suddenly breaks in and threatens to kill her if she attempts to get away. Deb arrives shortly after to find Vogel’s home broken into and her missing.
At a crime scene, three bodies have been recovered from being buried in a backyard. The killer buries his victims with their identification cards and always keeps their left shoe on. Debra interrupts Dexter in this crime scene investigation to tell him that Vogel has been taken. She wants to help and Dexter is hesitant at first, asking why she decided to save him. Deb replies that she couldn’t image life without him. The two head off to find Vogel.
Quinn questions a bystander if he happened to see Hamilton around at the time of the killing. He shows the man a picture of Hamilton and his son. Surprisingly, he points at Hamilton’s son, Zack.
Masuka is having lunch with his daughter, she tells him that her mother passed and she decided to find him because she feels kind of alone. When they place their order, Masuka finds it odd that she orders a lot of food and tells Masuka that she forgot her bag and if he can pay for it.
The man that claimed to have seen Zack Hamilton comes in but says he doesn’t remember. Quinn suspects that someone paid him to keep quiet. Matthews tells him to let it go and not go after him, suggesting it’s a false lead.
Deb is at work when she receives a visit from Masuka, saying he needs to talk to her. Masuka tells her that he wants her to follow and research his daughter, Nikki. He says she seems really nice but has a weird feeling about it all.
Dexter gets home and is thrown off at first to find Quinn, Jamie, and Cassie. Dex tells Jamie that the double date will have to be at another time because he has plans. Jamie is upset and tells him that she did all of this for his own good because she wants him to meet Cassie. She convinces him to stay and he reluctantly accepts. Dex talks to Cassie, asking if he can reschedule.
Deb calls Dex about how many houses they need to go check out where Vogel might possibly be located at. In the meantime, Vogel is pleading with Yates to let her go. Yates pulls out a large pair of tweezers and is about to cut off one of her toes when she suddenly yells at him as if she were her mother and hits him. It works, Yates gets her to back off and leaves the room to heal his wound. Vogel manages to call Dexter from the house phone and Deb gets her boss to trace the location.
While driving to Vogel’s location, they listen to her try to reason with Yates. It works at first, but Yates sees the phone and he gets angry. Deb and Dex arrive at the house and find Vogel tied up in the closet. Yates is hiding under the bed and Dex kills him, Deb looks a bit shocked but remains calm. Vogel thanks them and says she is glad that the two are back together, Deb says, “well a family that kills together…”
The three of them go on Dexter’s boat to get rid of Yate’s body. Dexter is happy that everything is beginning to shape up for him and tells them he is happy to be with family.
