Dinosaur World in Plant City is packed with hands-on interactive fun for kids

by used view

While the huge life-like dinosaur models at Dinosaur World in Plant City are the park’s most notable attraction, there’s a lot more to do than just strolling down the pathways and looking at the impressive creatures that loom up on the wooded trails.

Dinosaur World is very much geared to kids, and that means lots of hands-on activities. Sure, youngsters love to admire the dino models, but they like it a lot more when they can be right next to one for a photo opportunity, touch models, solve puzzles, and even dig for fossils.

Most of the hands-on activities are included with your regular admission ticket. You can see photos of many of them in the slideshow at the top of this article: They include:

Fossil Dig: This is included for kids ages 3 to 12, and older kids can do it for $2. They get to dig in the sand for a variety of authentic fossils, including shark teeth, dinosaur bone fragments, and sea urchins. They get to take home three of their finds.

Exploration Cave: Learn about how paleontologists uncover dinosaurs and their secrets in this fun show. Several youngsters even get chosen to be helpers.

Game Show: Young dinosaur buffs can show off their knowledge by competing in the game show that runs several times a day. Contestants are picked from the audience.

Excavation Area: This one is a favorite of both parents and kids. The youngsters can help dig up a model dinosaur while the adults enjoy a rest in the shaded seats.

Playgrounds: There are two playgrounds, each geared for a specific age group. Toddles have their own quiet spot, while older kids have a nice variety of themed play equipment to burn off some steam on swings, slides, and more.

Touch and Tell: Put your hands inside and see if you can identify the dinosaur strictly by feel.

Dino Gems: Dino Gems is an extra-cost experience that lets kids mine for gems and take home a bag filled with their finds.

Koi Feeding: You can buy a little bag of food to toss to the hungry koi in the various ponds.

Plan to spend a whole morning or afternoon at the park to make sure you’ll get to do everything and also get a good look at the dinosaurs. To see some of them in a slideshow, jump to this article. To check out the neat items in the gift shop, go to this article.
