Designed specifically for an audience of builders, architects, and raters, this webinar will address the value proposition of zero net-energy ready homes, the benefits of being a DOE Challenge Home partner, the process for qualifying homes in the Challenge Home program, and the technical specifications included in the DOE Challenge Home National Program Requirements.

The webcast will highlight several successful initiatives to implement solar-friendly zoning codes and update building codes to better accommodate solar planning and development. The webinar will also briefly cover where solar fits into the planning and zoning processes, best practices in planning and zoning for solar, and recent initiatives that facilitated solar energy deployment through changes in local planning and zoning requirements.

July 25: Live Webcast on Establishing Regional Resource Centers for Wind Power

The Energy Department will present a live webinar titled “Establishing Regional Resource Centers to Address Wind Market Barriers” on Thursday, July 25, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. Wind Powering America National Technical Director Jonathan Bartlett and Technical Director Ian Baring-Gould will discuss DOE’s plans to develop Regional Resource Centers (RRCs). The RRCs will be the backbone of wind activities that are focused on education and outreach. The goal of establishing regionally-based centers is to address market barriers and leverage opportunities shared across multiple states. Plans to release a request for proposals to establish RRCs during 2013 will also be discussed.
