“Dog the Bounty Hunter’s” daughter, Lyssa Chapman, has come out with a shocking, but real-life book about her life as the daughter of an alcoholic mother and drug addict father. According to Fox News on May 29, 2013, the harrowing life that Lyssa’s lived through in her young 25 years so far, has brought her full-circle back into her father’s arms.
Lyssa accused Dog Chapman of raping her when she was 11, which put a very dark and sad distance between the father and daughter. This was a false accusation, Lyssa admits, she had been molested by a friend of her fathers. Much like her father, Lyssa learned early on that drugs masked a lot of the pain and she followed in her dad’s footsteps when it came to doing drugs.
Lyssa, who is the ninth child of Dog Chapman, lived with her alcoholic mother as a teen and gave birth to her first child the day after she turned 15 years old. Her mother took off with her boyfriend and left Lyssa with her baby and her sister and basically said “pay the rent.”
Lyssa’s sister, who was also a teen mother, died in a horrific crash and her child was taken away from the father. Dog and Beth Chapman got custody of the boy.

Lyssa recalls how she babysat to make that $500 rent payment every month. She also said she went with the the guys who had the most drugs. Still estranged from her dad, she heard he had a hit TV show. She didn’t have cable, so she didn’t see it, but word got around and that’s how she learned her dad was a star.
Lyssa was arrested last year and it broke her father’s heart. She said that while she was out with friends, someone slipped something into her drink. She was arrested for causing a disturbance.

The two became close again and Lyssa, after living a similar life as a parent on drugs, that her father did, understood he did the best that he could while addicted. She too saw this in herself. Her relationship today is great, she loves her dad and she’s very close to him. She does say that she still has some “challenges” with his wife, that would be Beth Chapman, but she said, “I love my family.”
Lyssa is working getting her own TV show up and running about helping teenage moms get on track with jobs and helping them with their families. This is something Lyssa could have utilized herself as a teenager, so she’s really the right person to create a show around this.
She wants kids to know that you can be a successful parent even at a young age. “It doesn’t mean you’re destined to be trash the rest of your life,” according to Fox.
