Here’s a diet rule that we can all obey: Eat dessert daily. That’s just one of the easy-to-follow, yet life-changing food rules that Dr. Joel Fuhrman unveiled on his July 29 appearance on Dr. Mehmet Oz’s talk show. If Dr. Fuhrman’s name sounds familiar, there’s a reason. He’s one of Dr. Oz’s favorite experts because of his proven methods of using food as medicine. On the July 29 show, one woman revealed how she lowered her blood pressure and cholesterol and enhanced every aspect of her health by following his diet: “Eat to Live: The Amazing Nutrient-Rich Program for Fast and Sustained Weight Loss, Revised Edition” (click to order). Get the rest of his rules, plus his delicious dessert recipes, below.
Dr. Fuhrman is a big believer in the joys of juicing and the bliss of blenders. You can use a juicer to make soups and salad dressings, while a blender also can be used to make salad dressings as well as smoothies and a wide range of desserts (ice cream, anyone?). He recommends obtaining your protein from veggies, and eating meat only every other day. If you’re a carbohydrate lover, make sure to choose slowly digested starches, including brown rice, beans, peas and barley.
