A restaurant reflects the team behind it. Christy’s is well-known for its exquisite cuisine, service, longstanding location, years of existence, and those special people who make it possible. Dining at Christy’s has a seal of approval from all who have enjoyed a dining experience enough to return again and again. Dulce Blacher, the Executive Marketing Manager runs Christy’s smoothly. She welcomes regulars, who are happy to see her and greets new diners, making them feel at home. Though Dulce does this with ease, it is to those in the know, quite an achievement. Restaurant owners scour the earth seeking Executive Marketing Managers like Dulce Blacher. Christy’s is very lucky to have her.
RS: Tell me about yourself, Dulce. What brought you to Christy’s?
DB: I have been friends of the owners at Christy’s for over twenty years. I think they know I love to talk to people and they know I enjoy great food. I have a sales background as well as love to share my experiences about great dining with everyone I meet. I am a true foodie and I love the realm of good hospitality.
Christy’s Restaurant and Red Fish Grill restaurants have been my favorites for years before I began marketing for them. It is easy to share info and sell something you truly enjoy. Dining at Christy’s and Red Fish Grill always leaves you with a satisfied palate, a memorable experience and a craving to return.
RS: Todays restaurants face a more competitive role than ever. Christy’s has Executive Chef Seth Barrs, who creates the most exquisite dishes for the restaurant, which is always full. You told me that there are many regulars and celebrities who frequent Christy’s, which will soon be celebrating its 35th Anniversary. To what do you attribute this colossal success?
DB: Thirty five years is a very long time especially in restaurant years. We are VERY proud of our Christy’s team. The Christy’s family is a hardworking and proud one. We have very little turnover of staff because our Christy’s’ family all share this pride. From our service, to the exceptional food we present, our diners always expect the best and we proudly provide it. We respect and care about the details. We like our guests to feel welcome from the moment you step inside. Celebrities, politicians, famous athletes choose Christy’s for their good luck and/or celebratory dinners. We even have high profile guests eat at Christy’s as their “last rights” before going to jail or their very first meal after being incarcerated….I will be diplomatic and keep them nameless.
RS: Chef Seth replied in a recent interview that he would prefer to keep the traditional menu. Which is your particular favorite dish at Christy’s?
DB: It is difficult to say my favorite dish because I have many favorites. I would have to say the Herb Crusted Rack of Lamb served with mushroom ragout. The lamb is always tender and juicy and cooked just right with a delicious blend of herbs. However, the Braised Short Ribs and Atlantic salmon are in a close second. My friends and family love our generous and delicious Prime Rib and of course the Filet Mignon is always a winner.
Always a must with every meal is our famous Caesar Salad. I know I share this favorite with almost all of Christy’s’ diners.
RS: The live music adds to the romantic ambiance in Christy’s. It is lovely to observe so many couples at their tables holding hands. Christy’s lends a perfect setting for a wedding proposal. Do you see this occur often?
DB: We have plenty of wedding proposals. Many on one knee with the soft music backdrop. Our diners also enjoy romantic anniversary and celebratory dining. I am one of many to recall my favorite and most memorable dining experience at Christy’s. It was my day at the courthouse (conveniently across the street) getting married civilly and crossing over to enjoy a spectacular bottle of wine, outstanding late lunch, flaming Baked Alaska and brandy to end a fantastic day! We were giddy and our fabulous servers made every course unforgettable. Christy’s is open for Lunch on Fridays.
RS: How do you maintain the equilibrium between balancing the business and social aspects?
DB: I think balancing the business and social aspects of this position are one and the same. It is my business to share socially how wonderful Christy’s and Red Fish Grill are. That is easy! I trust in my restaurant team, Chris Klaic, the operations manager, Chef Seth, who constantly impresses us with formidable food and Sandra and Leo, my exceptional management team. They make it so every diner has a great experience and comes back again and again.
RS: What are your future plans within the next five years?
DB: Most definitely I plan to be with Christy’s for a long time, they are my extended family.
By popular demand, we are working on catering for the local businesses. In the next few years I would like to see this grow big. This gives some of our locals a chance to enjoy Christy’s outside of our beautiful red walls. It would be nice for them to experience Christy’s food in their own homes and offices. Also, I would love to expose and market a Christy’s food truck. Only one challenge, I think it would be tough deciding on what to serve… too many favorites!
