“It’s later than you think. So, enjoy yourself.” Unknown
It’s the time of year for getting out of town. Some like the action of a busy, yet relaxing city like Las Vegas; some like an adventure, like hiking the Grand Canyon; a great majority of people just want to get away from their normal hustle and bustle, just to relax.
Many people have found the perfect getaway, and it is in central Nebraska. Approximately 180 miles from Omaha, Nebraska, sits the town of Ord. Ord is located in the North Loup Valley. The North Loup Valley is rich in frontier-era American history. Ord is also home to Evelyn Sharp, a pioneering aviatrix during WWII. You can learn more about these stories at the Valley County Museum and Historical Society located in downtown Ord.
Just ten minutes outside of the town of Ord, you will find the Riverview Cabin Retreat. The cabin sits behind a beautiful pond, surrounded by many beautiful wooded areas that are great for hiking or taking a morning stroll. Just beyond the pond is the Loop River. The scenery is breathtaking and the peacefulness the same.
Owned by Brian and Chris Petska, this is a unique getaway for those who just want to get away from their normal hustle and bustle, just to relax. There are several ponds to fish and paths to walk. The cabin has two bedrooms; one with two sets of bunk beds, and one with a queen bed. Both bedrooms have plenty of closet space. The kitchen is stocked with dishware, silverware, pots and pans; as well as coffee, seasonings, and even decks of cards for leisurely play. Directly off of the kitchen is a comfortable dining area; off of that is an area with two reclining sofas. So, the cabin can comfortably sleep eight people.
Chris always has the bathroom stocked with towels, toilet paper, and hand soap.
Outside of the deck overlooking the pond is the fire pit. No need to chop wood, because Brian has a pile waiting for you. If you need more, just make a call, or take a trip to the house; which, is only a mile up the road.
If you don’t want to fish from the bank, there is your choice of three canoes’, or a fishing boat.
At the end of your relaxation vacation the Petska’s only ask that you tidy up, make sure the towels are in the basket, and leave the key.
Before you leave though, don’t forget to sign the book and tell of your experience at the Riverview Cabin Retreat; also, make sure that you read through it as well. You will find that people from all over the United States have made this their yearly relaxation vacation spot. There are even a handful of people who have been married there and return for their anniversary.
