Looking for a great getaway? Ever thought about a retreat. Whether it’s for a day, weekend, week or more, this can be a great way to relax and unwind.
There are many varieties to choose from. You can stay local or travel to another state or exotic country.
So what should you look for when planning a retreat? Options. Think about what you want to get out of the retreat. Will this be a relaxing retreat where you focus on spending some quiet time alone to reflect on what you want in life. Or are you looking for an adventurous, physical retreat or somewhere in between. There are so many great options. It really depends on what works for you.
Also, think about whether you would like your trip to be pre-planned for you where you know what you will be doing every day and what will be expected of you. Perhaps you are looking for some leeway in that area whereas you want to relax and explore the area on your own. Most retreats offer different packages to choose from, but it is important to be aware of what you are getting involved in. Look for the type of retreat that is going to be most beneficial for you.
You will also want to ask about the activities that are at your disposal. Will you be doing a cleanse, be in total silence, or somewhere in between. Do they offer massage, art classes, Yoga, or Pilates? Will there be cooking classes, walks, or gardening? Would you like to spend time by the ocean or forest or some other view. Do you have any dietary or health restrictions. Will the facility be able to accommodate you. Will you go alone, with a spouse or friend. If you are going with someone be sure that you both want to go for the same reasons. You don’t have to do all activities together, but be sure what you are looking for will be available to both of you. There are benefits to all of these options and there is no right or wrong way to go.
If you do go alone you will really be able to spend some quiet time and reflect on what is going on within yourself and/or relationships. Think about what you want to change or improve on. Perhaps start a journal. Lose yourself in your thoughts and bring back some of those good memories. This is a great way to make new friends who are like-minded. Perhaps you will get some new insight on something you have been working on. A retreat should be a rewarding experience.
If you go with someone there are couples retreats where you can deepen your relationship with one another, re-kindle the fire and grow closer. If you go with a friend be sure they have similar interest and be supportive of one another. Don’t forget the reason you are going on a retreat in the first place and do your best to accomplish this goal.
