Evan Peters, a star on creator Ryan Murphy’s “American Horror Story,” met his current girlfriend Emma Roberts while the two filmed “Adult World” in Syracuse, New York, which wrapped in February of 2012. Click here for more on Peters’ and Roberts’ romantic relationship.
Independent comedy “Adult World,”directed by Scott Coffey, stars Roberts and John Cusack (“1408”) and also features veteran Cloris Leachman (“Young Frankenstein”). The film premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in April of 2013. IFC Films has tentatively scheduled its U.S. release for this fall.
In an interview with Maria Mercedes Lara of Popsugar Entertainment, describing “Adult World,” Peters said,
I play Alex who is the manager at Adult World, the porn store, and Emma’s character Amy comes to work at the shop and I sort of help her out and show her the ropes a little bit and we end up developing a relationship … I really like the message of the film … you go one path and it doesn’t always work out so you go a different path … generally kids who are this age are going through the same problems that Amy’s going through … it’s nice to be able to relate to someone and see how they do it. If it works for them, it can work for you too.
Here’s how the Treehouse Pictures official website for “Adult World” describes the movie:
Amy (Emma Roberts) is naïve, awkward and anxious to get her poetry career off of the ground. She begrudgingly accepts a job at the local sex shop, Adult World, while pursuing a surefire kick-start for her success: a mentorship with reclusive writer Rat Billings (the hilarious John Cusack). As Amy’s world melds with that of Adult World, she slowly learns that inspiration can be found in the most improbable places.
In an October 30, 2012, article by Zach Sparks of the Baltimore Sun, Peters described the differences between working on a TV show like “AHS” and making this movie, saying, “You get less takes on TV than in movies. Scott Coffey was amazing. He would just let the camera roll, so you could deviate [from the script] and go back. He left certain parts open-ended. Another thing about movies is they don’t always have ends before they get shot.”
Besides “Adult World,” the couple has appeared together in the works of Jacksonville native, amazing photographer Tyler Shields. In one video short entitled “White Rabbit” (with background music “A Daisy Chain for Satan” by My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult), a James Bond-esque Peters runs from said rabbit. Click here to watch. In another, entitled “Evan Peters Goes Synthetic,” Peters gets cozy with his “new girlfriend,” a blow-up doll named Betsy. After an off-screen interviewer asks Peters about his “ex-girlfriend,” passionate on-screen kissing between Peters and Roberts ensues, until Roberts turns into Betsy. Click here to watch. Tyler Shields video short “Overwhelm Me” features Peters and Roberts, along with others, in an incredible composition of images, accompanied by Snow Patrol’s haunting song, “The Lightning Strike.” Model Chebo is paired with Peters in the video. Shields planned self-portraits only for his latest photography show, Suspense, due to the danger involved with the concept of mid-air shots. But his girlfriend Francesca Eastwood (yes, she’s Clint’s daughter) and Roberts both wanted in (according to a March Huffington Post article).
In one shot, Roberts is “thrown” to Peters, the only photo in Suspense in which Peters appears. Shields, in the Huffpost article, jokes, “If he doesn’t catch her, they’re going to have some serious domestic issues.” Guess everything worked out since Peters and Roberts attended the opening together at the Guy Hepner Gallery on April 27.
The results were absolutely astounding. Click here to view photos from Suspense.
The Huffpost article reports:
Shields says he was blown away by the agility of both Roberts, 22, and Eastwood, 19. He maintains that all stunts in the series are real, a testament to the physical abilities of his subjects. “Obviously, people say, oh, did you superimpose it, or use wires or whatever? There was no superimposing and no wires in the entire series. Now, how people are doing certain things and how they got where they’re going and where they land, that’s part of the mystery.”
So, Shields has filmed Peters with a person in an eerie bunny suit and a blow-up doll. Another photographer, Davis Factor, in a short titled Evan Peters, features him with a rat, and later, drowning in a tub, while eerily reciting Shel Silverstein’s “Boa Constrictor.” Click here to watch. Flaunt Magazine published stills from the video, one of which inspired a drawing by Angelika Micberger (aka zgirl3210 on DeviantART). The attached slideshow includes pictures from “Adult World,” from Shields’ videos, Micberger’s drawing and another excellent fan art drawing by Sara Kett (aka icedelegance on DeviantART) inspired by a Shields’ photo.
