High pressure was over the central southern tier of New York early this morning and will drift over the lower Hudson Valley by early this afternoon and off into the Atlantic Ocean by nightfall keeping fair weather, with seasonably warm temperatures, over the region today. A thick canopy of cloud cover will encroach upon the region through the overnight hours tonight as the high pressure area moves further east and away from the area.
A series of weather systems, one approaching from the southwest, and the other approaching from the Great Lakes, will impact our weather beginning Thursday. Increasing clouds and periods of rain, with embedded thunderstorms, are expected by Thursday afternoon. The rainfall should last into the evening hours on Thursday before slowly tapering off overnight as the conglomeration of systems passes east of the region and into New England.
High pressure will be over the region on Friday, returning fair and breezy weather to the area. A weak cold front approaches the region on Saturday morning, bringing a slight chance for some shower activity with its passage, though the best chances for this activity look to be north of the region.
Canadian high pressure descends into the region on Sunday, bringing mostly sunny skies and somewhat breezy conditions to close out the weekend and to start the new work week next Monday.
