Coastal low pressure was slowly pulling northeast, off the southern New England coast, early Friday morning. High pressure over West Virginia will lift east of northeast and influence the weather over the five track span for the bulk of the forecast period (i.e. Friday afternoon through Saturday evening). A slow moving cold front will send an increase in clouds to the area by Saturday evening, along with increasing humidity levels. Showers and thunderstorms associated with the front do not appear to impact the region until late Saturday night into early Sunday morning.
…FRIDAY RACE TRACK FORECASTS…
Albany-Saratoga Speedway & Glen Ridge Motorsports Park: Clouds associated with the large coastal system will slowly erode on Friday morning as the system moves into the Gulf of Maine. Partly to mostly sunny skies are forecast for the balance of the day with a slight northerly breeze keeping humidity levels in check. Race time temperatures should be in the low to mid 70’s, dropping quickly into the 60’s by sunset as mostly clear skies allow for good cooling conditions.
Dodge City Speedway: Satellite pictures this morning indicate that the cloud shield associated with the coastal system is just east of this track, so a bit more in the way of sunshine is expected. Race time temperatures will be in the mid to upper 70’s with a light northerly breeze. Once the sun sets tonight, temperatures should begin to fall back into the 60’s under clear skies with light winds.
…SATURDAY RACE TRACK FORECASTS…
Fonda Speedway: High pressure will be in control of the weather for the bulk of the day bringing mostly sunny skies. Humidity levels will slowly begin to edge upward, along with increasing high clouds toward sunset. Race time temperatures should be right around 80 degrees. As cloud cover increases, temperatures will have a difficult time falling back after sunset. In addition, with dewpoints creeping into the lower 60’s, a muggy evening looks to be in store. Light southerly winds are expected through the course of the day and into the evening.
Lebanon Valley Speedway: High pressure will bring mostly sunny skies, along with increasing levels of humidity to the region during the day. Clouds will be slower to increase in this area, though an increase in high clouds is expected, especially toward sunset. Race time temperatures should be in the lower 80’s, and increasing humidity levels are forecast, with light southerly breezes providing little relief from the sticky conditions.
