There are many times we’ve had food at a restaurant that is so memorable, we would love to have the recipe for what we enjoyed. Of course, it’s not very often that a restaurant will share a top-secret recipe! For many restaurants, the recipes are a guarded secret and only the privileged know them and can prepare them.
There’s a certain restaurant (which I decline to name!) that serves a bread that I could easily make a meal off of! I’ve enjoyed these biscuits many times and I know many of you know what eatery I’m referring to that makes this fabulous bread, once you read the recipe. I came across this recipe some years ago and through some detective work, felt that this is the recipe that comes the closest to what this place makes. Therefore, “Cheese-Garlic Biscuits” will be a recipe that you can make and enjoy in your own home without having to go out!
This is a very easy recipe and it’s one that contains ingredients you may already have on hand now. It begins very easily with biscuit mix and it’s flavored with butter, cheese and garlic. It’s hard to believe something this good could be put together this easily! You can mix these up in just a few minutes and they won’t last much longer than that once they are brought to the table.
This recipe makes about 10-12 biscuits and can easily be doubled for more or halved for less. They will keep for about a day, if you’re fortunate enough to have leftovers. To reheat, simply place them on a paper towel and microwave for about 30 seconds on high power.
A while back, I shared another fast and easy biscuit recipe called “Bread and Butter Sticks”, which are biscuits that are already buttered when they’re served. To get the recipe, here’s the link:
If you’ve never had these biscuits, you definitely have a treat in store! If you’ve had these in the restaurant, you can now have them at home whenever you choose!
- 2 cups packaged biscuit mix, such as Bisquick
- 2/3 cup milk
- 1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Mix the biscuit mix, milk and cheese until a soft dough forms. Beat vigorously 30 seconds. Drop dough by the tablespoon onto an ungreased baking sheet. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until golden. Mix the melted butter with the garlic powder and brush over hot biscuits before removing from baking sheet. Serve warm. Yield: 8-10 biscuits.
