Don’t ever say that “Project Runway” doesn’t like to keep their fans happy, and involved, with the hit reality television fashion competition. The show announced today that one former “Project Runway” fashion designer would be brought back to compete for the grand prize on the shows upcoming twelfth season- and that fans would decide who the lucky designer would be.
Now through June 3 fans can vote online to decide whether Ra’mon-Lawrence Coleman ( of season 6), Valerie Mayen (of season 8) or Kate Pankoke (of season 11) will be given one of the highly coveted slots on “Project Runway: Season Twelve.”
While fans have seen many of their former favorites return to the runway thanks to the spin-off series “Project Runway: All Stars” this is the first time that they have had a chance to influence the starting line up for a regular season of the show.
On the Lifetime.com website the three designers made their pitch to fans as to why they should be given a second chance to wow the judges on “Project Runway.”
“I know the other designers may be new and without any branding or business to their name, while others may be well-seasoned veterans with eons of experience and credentials out the wazoo,” explains Valerie Mayen. “I know that some people may think I’m not good enough or capable, but that’s PRECISELY why I deserve a second chance, because I fall in that happy medium between “fresh out of design school student” and “big fashion label employee/freelance designer to the stars entrepreneur.”
“I believe that I deserve to come back because I was a fierce competitor and also a gracious loser,” Kate Pankoke said, in part, also adding that she felt she was unjustly eliminated.
Ramon felt similarly about his own elimination, feeling it came too early. He then adds, “I think this time around I would be the one for everyone to watch out for if given the opportunity to come back for redemption. Correction, I know I would be.”
