The missing plane carrying Fashion head Vittorio Missoni, his wife and four others has been located off the coast of Key Carenero, within the Los Roques archipelago last week, more than five months after the aircraft vanished, according to CNN.
On January 4, the fashion world paused with news that Italian fashion head, Vittorio Missoni, of the label bearing his name, his wife Maurizia Castiglioni, two Italian crewmembers and two friends of the couple, Guido Foresti and Elda Scalveuzi, were reported missing after their plane disappeared from the radar off the coast of Venezuela while on a short, 100-mile excursion from the resort town of Los Roques to Caracas.
Using oceanographic technology, an American ship assisted in the efforts to find Missoni’s plane. Three weeks after the aircraft disappeared, a bag from the voyage washed ashore nearly 124 miles from where it had reportedly first vanished off of radar. Both the Italian and Venezuelan governments are in the process of recovering the wreckage where all passengers are presumed dead.
Vittorio Missoni, 58, was the marketing director in charge of the American and French affiliates, of the fashion label his parents, Ottavio and Rosita, founded in 1953 as well as the eldest son of the Italian fashion designers. The family-run Italian luxury brand partnered with Target in 2011 to bring fashion to families on a budget.
Ottavio Missoni, founder of the famous Italian fashion brand, Missoni, died at the age of 92 on May 9 marking the second death the Missoni family has suffered this year. Missoni is truly a family endeavor with Ottavio and wife Rosita beginning the Italian fashion brand in 1953 after meeting during the 1948 London Olympics. All three children, Vittorio, Luca and Angela, along with the grandchildren of the fashion founders have played an integral part in the Missoni name.
Based out of Milan Italy, the Missoni luxury fashion brand is well known for its zigzag, stripes and floral patterns, along with colorful designs popular amongst celebrities such as Cameron Diaz, Demi Moore, Blake Lively, Nicole Kidman, Sharon Stone, Julia Roberts and Jennifer Lopez.
