Stitches Midwest is next weekend, August 9-11 in Schaumberg, Illinois, north-west of Chicago at the Renaissance Schaumburg Hotel & Convention Center. The Stitches events are held several times a year in four different locations; East, West South and Midwest. This event outside of Chicago is the closest Stitches Event to Detroit area fiber enthusiasts.
What is a Stitches event and why should you attend? Stitches events are jammed packed with knitters, crocheters, the best teachers, free and paid events, and just plain old fun for fiber lovers and those that don’t yet have the fever. Stitches events are the brain child of The Knitting Universe. The Knitting Universe is home to Knitter’s Magazine, XRX Books, and STITCHES Knitting & Crochet Expos.
At the Stitches events you can take classes, shop till you drop with an impressive array of vendors, or learn to knit or crochet for free. There are still openings in some classes, be sure to look at the class schedule and register before attending the event.
This year’s opening event and luncheon features Laura Bryant as the speaker as she shares highlights from a lifetime of knitting.
Before going, be sure to download the 68 page brochure of classes and events so you don’t miss anything. The Market is open to the public Friday thru Sunday opening at 10:00 a.m. at a cost of $10 for a one day pass, $15 for a two day pass, and $20 for a three day pass. Children ages 10 and younger are free. Make sure to look around Facebook for reduced ticket prices offered by Stitches vendors. If you listen to podcasts, Fiber Hooligan is offering 50% off Market entrance on their Facebook page page.
