If you have had any contact with me whatsoever over the past year or so, you will know just how much I love the Young Adult novel by Jessica Park titled Flat Out Love…
Due to her fans like me slowly wearing her down until she had no choice but to do it, she has written a companion piece to Flat Out Love called Flat Out Matt…
Here is the description from Amazon…
“Matt is a junior at MIT. He’s geeky, he’s witty, he’s brilliant.
And he’s also very, very stupid.
When beautiful, cool, insightful Julie moves in with Matt’s family, why (oh why!) does he pretend to be his absent brother Finn for her alleged benefit?
It seems harmless enough until her short-term stay becomes permanent. And until it snowballs into heart-squeezing insanity. And until he falls in love with Julie, and Julie falls in love with Finn.
But … Matt is the right one for her. If only he can make Julie see it. Without telling her the truth, without shattering them all. Particularly his fragile sister Celeste, who may need Julie the most.
You saw Matt through Julie’s eyes in FLAT-OUT LOVE. Now go deeper into Matt’s world in this FLAT-OUT MATT novella. Live his side of the story, break when his heart breaks, and fall for the unlikely hero all over again.
Take an emotional skydive for two prequel chapters and seven FLAT-OUT LOVE chapters retold from his perspective, and then land with a brand-new steamy finale chapter from Julie. “
If you haven’t read Flat Out Love, then you really won’t understand what is happening in this Novella Companion Piece. But what am I even saying? How would that even be possible, of course you have read Flat Out Love right? RIGHT? If you haven’t then I am telling you to head over to Amazon right now and read it!!!!
Anyway, back to Flat Out Matt. Matt is somewhat perfect to me. From his geeky (but very cool) t-shirts, to his love for Julie, and to his devotion to his sister Celeste.
Everything about this companion is everything that you could want to that one story that you now only fell in love with, but actually changed your life a little. This Novella is just the story to make you laugh, cry, and fall even more madly in love with Matt, Celeste, and Julie. All of the extra content is perfect, and to actually get to see how the real Finn was is like a little treasure you find at the bottom of your morning cereal. But the extra (steamy) chapters are like the little treasure you find at the bottom of your vodka glass, if you get the message. (insert salacious eyebrow dance here).
After all of that how could I not give it a much deserved 5 stars. Keep your eyes on Jessica Park, she is going to be bigger than Stephen King someday.
