Millions of young men in America are raised in the absence of their fathers. As it pertains to their well-being and productivity into adulthood, the statistics are alarming. Steve Harvey has taken it upon himself to begin to challenge those dire statistics and create new realities for young men across the country. The nationwide program hosts its largest meeting here in Dallas leading up to its close on Father’s Day.
On hand to speak into the lives of the young men locally is Pastor Ontario Jones of the Church at Philadelphia of Fort Worth. Pastor Jones is a proud product of Fort Worth and in a very short time in the Pastorate, he has revitalized a church in sever need of new life. Pastor Jones has been blessed with a connection beyond his years and has impacted lives of many generations.
You can become a mentor
Jones is young but can reach the baby boomers, older but still cool enough to rap with teens and school age congregants. What he brings to the Steve Harvey Mentoring Camp is a fresh take on the word of God and ‘new wine’ for the many issues facing today’s youth. It is known fact that today’s youth face more difficult challenges than the generation before them. Jones emphatic delivery is equally as infectious as his smile. Congregants wait with baited breath to hear a word from God. These young men are in for a treat as Pastor Jones prepares to pour out from himself to them.
The National Mentoring Camp, held in Dallas, is a four day, three night interactive program whose sole purpose is to share & teach the principles of manhood and dream building to young men. The program helps young men to realize their potential and envision a future where they are physically and emotionally equipped, responsible and productive men.
Hosted by Steve Harvey, this program includes a host of workshops that focus on personal responsibility, dream building, and the importance of nutrition and physical fitness. In addition, the participants are introduced to positive male role models who are leaders in various areas, including business, their communities, entertainment and the military.
Do you know a “man of the year”?
Jones is a solid choice to share with these young men. Many of them hail from single parent homes, with absentee/imprisoned fathers. Men like Jones have been handpicked by Harvey himself to sow into the lives of attendees by re-defining manhood and showcasing what it looks like in living color. The future of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex has been brightened thanks to Harvey’s program and men like Pastor Jones. The camp close on Father’s Day is certainly no mistake, these young men will receive life long lessons that will impact them and their children for generations to come.
