Blood is thicker than water or is it? Genetics are leading to a state of confusion and a whole lot of trouble on “General Hospital” lately. On the July 9 episode, Ava (Maura West) runs into a familiar face, Franco (Roger Howarth) runs into Shawn’s fist and Michael (Chad Duell) and Kiki (Kristen Alderson) run into another complication in their complicated “kissing cousins” relationship.
If Dr. Silas Clay (Michael Easton) and Ava Jerome weren’t mysterious enough, now viewers are thrown a curveball with the fact that the two newest characters in Port Charles have a past together. When Ava bumps into Silas at the hospital, it becomes apparent rather quickly that the two have experienced some kind of hurt or mistrust that has drifted them apart. Silas doesn’t seem to want anything to do with Ava, but after some pleading, he agreed to talk to her. Their past interaction may lead to a questioning of Kiki’s true paternity, if indeed the two were romantically connected. The way Silas turned away from Ava the minute their eyes caught each other may be a reason why Silas is so cold, especially to Sam. Did Ava hurt Silas? What emotional conflict did he experience in his past that makes him seem like a careless jerk now? The coincidental meeting came just as Carly (Laura Wright) convinces Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) to dig up dirt on Ava. What Spinelli finds may shake up many lives.
One of those lives will be Franco who was roughed up by Shawn (Sean Blakemore) under the order of Sonny (Maurice Benard). Before he ran into Shawn’s fist, Franco went on a rant to Morgan about not being asked to get tested for a bone marrow match for Danny just as Sam was telling Alexis about Franco being her last hope. After all he has done, even the slight chance that Franco may be the one who saves Danny is a bit repulsive, but when a child’s life is at risk, a parent will take any help they can get. But none of it will even be relevant if Franco is beaten to death. Sonny sent a message to Franco by having him beaten. Conveniently Alexis walked in just in time to see her ex-boyfriend pounding on Franco, and may have saved his life and in the process may have saved her own grandchild’s life.
Michael and Kiki can’t stay away from each other no matter how much they try. The fact that they are first cousins isn’t getting in the way of their attraction to each other although they both know it is wrong. Now Brad knows as he caught them kissing in the hospital room where they both were to get tested as possible donors for Danny. The slimy Brad used what he saw to try to get Michael to sleep with him. How far will Michael and Kiki go to keep their attraction a secret? It definitely doesn’t go as far as Michael actually sleeping with another man although he’s straight. It will be interested to see where Brad’s attempt at blackmail will lead. Perhaps it will force Michael and Kiki to expose their incestuous behavior or maybe it will lead to Ava uncovering one of her hidden secrets.
Elsewhere Anna filled Duke in on Franco’s attempted shooting. While they were talking, Ava walks in with Silas and greets Duke. Sam talks to Alexis about the possible donors, one of which being Franco and Carly may be opening a can of worms by asking Spinelli to investigate Ava.
