Parents make mistakes. On a soap opera, those mistakes seem to always come back to affect their children in some way. Alexis is coming face to face with her past now that her grandson Danny needs a bone marrow donor. The only problem is, Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) can’t put a name to the face that gave her the gift of her daughter Sam (Kelly Monaco). On the July 23 episode of “General Hospital”, Alexis spilled her guilt to Nicholas (Tyler Christopher) about not knowing who Sam’s father is, Carly used her bond with Jason to get through to Franco (Roger Howarth) and Laura (Genie Francis) let Tracy (Jane Elliot) know that she knows about Luke’s poisoning.
Alexis opened up to Nicholas about Sam’s father. She only has but a brief memory of him but wishes she knew more now because it would help Danny. Nicholas suggested that he could be dead, but then Alexis pointed out that he might have a big family which would increase the odds of helping Danny. Alexis was just a 16-year-old girl in a bar when she met the guy. The only small detail she is able to remember is the way he waved his hair. She wishes she would have made better decisions back then, but there is nothing she could do to change it now. Meanwhile Rafe suggested to Molly that Sam’s dad may be someone Alexis knows. The list of names that began with the letter “J” started and stopped at Jerry Jacks, but Molly quickly pointed out that Alexis would’ve recognized him if she was with him as a teenager. The possibility of Jerry being Sam’s father would mean that Sam slept with her own uncle when she had a fling with Jax. Since Jerry had plastic surgery, he may not really be Jerry Jacks. There is that possibility. The other possibility is that Sam’s father could be a member of the Jerome family Perhaps there is a connection.
Speaking of connections, Carly used her bond with Jason to get through to Franco on the bridge just before he was about to through Danny off of it. In Franco’s mind as Jason, he believed he was saving Danny from the sickness and darkness his genes may have passed on to Danny. As Jason, he believes he is a failure and a killer just like Franco. Carly convinces him that he is a good person who is needed by a lot of people, including herself. She finally convinces him to give Danny over to her but then he pulls the gun on himself. When Carly mentions that she loves and needs him, he softens just as the police shows up. He turns the gun on Carly and again she is able to get through to him and also tells him that the tumor is a reason for his actions and that without it, he actually might have a heart. In a way, Jason and Carly’s special bond and way of understanding each other may be what brings Carly to understand Franco especially after he puts the gun down and falls in her arms uttering the words “you saved me”.
Laura has vowed that she will save Luke. Laura’s visit with Tracy confirmed that Luke is indeed ill, but what she didn’t know was that he was poisoned by Helena and that his only hope is finding Jerry Jacks. Both Laura and Tracy love Luke, but it became apparent at the end of Tuesday’s episode that Laura has a deeper connection to Luke which is why she can’t just let him face this all alone. For Laura, they will always share a bond. They have children and grandchildren together and perhaps she understands Luke better than anyone else. Tracy comes a close second but she doesn’t have the history.
Elsewhere in Port Charles, Sam, Silas, Dante, and Elizabeth waited at General Hospital awaiting word on Franco and Danny’s whereabouts. TJ told Taylor he wants to just be friends which resulted in her trying to pick up a random guy at the Floating Rib. Later Molly and Rafe entered to find them in an embrace.
