The month of June is partially dedicated to the getting outside. As June is Great Outdoors month, the National Wildlife Federation (NWF) wants to see how people are spending time outdoors.
To further promote that, the NWF is hosting a photo contest. Interested parties can post a photo of themselves outdoors at www.facebook.com/nationalwildlife or email their photos to firstname.lastname@example.org. Photo entries must be submitted by June 30, 2013. More information can be found on the NWF website.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) also has some tips on their website about protecting oneself and the environment while outdoors. A few of the tips include checking the air quality index before heading outside, avoiding overexposure to UV rays, and reducing waste while on vacation.
There are plenty of options for venturing outdoors; Walking to the store, biking to work, spending time in state or national parks, and eating breakfast on the porch. For more information on Great Outdoors Month, visit AmericanTrails.org
