With everything going on in the world today one must wonder why so much darkness? Why so much evil? The bible says that for as much as sin increases in the world, grace increases all the more (Rom. 5:20).
There is no darkness in Him
But the bible says that God is light, and in Him there is absolutely no darkness.
This is the message we heard from Christ and are reporting to you: God is light, and there isn’t any darkness in him.
1 John 1:5 states that God is light and there is no darkness in Him. This was the message the disciples heard and received from Christ through His ministry to them. And here, John is repeating the same message to his people. John reports, without any reservations, that God is light and there is absolutely no darkness in Him.
The truth of this message is that Jesus is from God, therefore He is the light of God. In Gills commentary of the bible it states,
“that he is without any mixture of darkness;”.
Jesus is the light from heaven which there resides no darkness in Him either.
What does it mean to see Jesus as the light from heaven?
- He is a pure Spirit, a Spirit that is not tainted with the sins of the world.
- He has a perfect heart toward God and there is no mixture of darkness in Him.
- He is pure of heart and mind, not tainted with dark or negative thoughts.
- He is the perfect One from heaven, given to the world for salvation by God Himself, who through Him there is no darkness, but only light.
- It is through His pure Spirit that the light shines through into the darkness of the heart, spirit , mind and soul of a believer.
The Invisible Image
Jesus is the image of the invisible God. So, if God is light and Jesus is coming from the invisible God, He comes as light Himself into the world. The truth here is that Jesus is the light and the image of the invisible God. This is why the bible says, *He that hath seen the Son hath see the Father also.* (John 14:9). So the promise to believers is that anyone who walks in the light will commune with God and be in relationship with the Father.
Also, this is why Jesus came into the world as the light; so that those who would believe, put their faith and trust in Him would enjoy the same kind of communion and relationship He has with God. When He came into the world, He brought with Him the light of God and also the freedom to be in and have communion with the Father through Him. And This is a promise to all Christian who believe and worship’s Christ in Spirit .
- to be in communion with God, always
- to have and enjoy a love relationship with Him.
In this promise there is freedom. The freedom to enjoy being in relationship with the Father and having constant communion with Him.
Before Jesus came into the world, this was difficult for the people who believed to even achieve. But, again, this communion; this relationship can only be sustained if one walks in the light of God, being a pure spirit like Jesus and have no darkness residing in their hearts.
