A Daily Word from the Word for Wednesday, May 15, 2013
“May He [The Lord] send you help from the sanctuary, and strengthen you out of Zion.” – Psalm 20:2
Our Holy Father wants to be actively and intimately involved in our lives. We limit God’s level of involvement by the restrictions we place on Him. The Hebrew word for “send” as used in this verse is shalach (pr. shaw-lakh), which means “bring (on the way), shoot” (Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance).
I love the image that the word “shoot” invokes; as I see our Heavenly Father, ever so mindful His children with His Holy Bow and Arrow, locked and loaded, steady and ready to launch His provision of help precisely when and where we need it!
Are you limiting God’s involvement in your life, my brother? Are you telling your willing Father to hold His arrow of reprieve back so you can work things out yourself, my sister? We know how things work out when we try to work them out, family! We need less of us and more of God! He is the One with the golden arrows!
The psalmist isn’t too proud to declare “I will lift up my eyes to the hills—From whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth!” (Psalm 121:1-2). The help found within the Great Archer’s quiver is His ezer (pr. ay-zer), which is “to surround, protect, aid.” Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary defines “aid” as “to provide with what is useful or necessary in achieving an end.” The Apostle Peter testifies that God by His divine power, has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue (2 Peter 1:3).
God’s help is His provision, and His strength is our position. The Hebrew word for “strengthen” used here is caad (pr. saw-ad), and means “to support, comfort, establish, hold-up, refresh.” King David exalts “the Lord is my strength!” (Psalm 28:7). This great king was made great because he positioned himself in the Lord! Again I say: The Lord’s strength is our position. Are you getting this, family? Allow God to establish you, support you, comfort you, hold you up, and refresh you.
Once you allow the Father of all fathers to swoop in with help in His hands, and position you in Him, then not even the gates of hell will be able to prevail against you! (Matthew 16:18).
Father, thank You for being our help and our strength. Help us, Holy Helper, to take our restrictions off of You and allow You full and unfettered access into us and into our lives. Teach us to walk in Your Ways, Oh Lord. Position us in You, Oh King. In Jesus Name, we thank You that because we humble ourselves under Your mighty hand that You exalt us in our due season (1 Peter 5:6). Amen and Amen!
Take action! Challenge your thinking! Choose to humble yourself under your Father’s mighty hand, so that He can position you in Him. Choose to walk continuously in the provision of your Father’s help, and to position yourself in His strength. And continue to fight the good fight of allowing your Daddy to fight your battles for you; for God, your Helping Hand, has already given you the victory!
If you have never received Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, I encourage you to do it today, right now, by saying this prayer out loud: “Jesus, forgive me for my sins. I am sorry. I truly desire to be saved and reconciled back to God, my Father, through You. I receive Your sinless Blood as payment in full for my sins—past, present, and future. I now call You my Lord and Savior, and invite You to live within my heart, and to permanently live within me. I make You Lord over me and over my life from this moment on. Amen.” Congratulations! You are now a child of God, made whole and made new, by the Blood of Jesus Christ!
