Sarah Palin said it concisely: “only limited government can ensure liberty.” Breitbart reported Palin’s view of a big and growing government in the midst of scandal. What we have now is a limitless government that has gone rogue with our liberties.
The IRS scandal has besmirched Obama, yet he remains remote about its practice of targeting conservatives, Tea Party, and patriot groups. He has denied knowing any of what was brewing at the IRS as far back as 2010.
As the chief executive responsible for federal agencies–the IRS being the biggest and most powerful–Obama is either a liar or incompetent. In either case, he deserves to be fired. But, we can’t fire the president, can we?
We learned that Lois Lerner invoked the 5th Amendment during Congressional hearings instead of hearing of her involvement in the targeting scandal. Such an invocation protects a person from incriminating themselves, making the hearing less about bad practices than it is about criminal activity.
Could it be that Ms. Lerner plays scapegoat for protecting the President? Could it be that Ms. Lerner enjoys the rights of the 5th Amendment while her organization denied Americans the rights of the 1st Amendment? Was she instructed to take the fall for Obama on the promise of being ‘taken care of’ by big government? Her opening statement declared her innocence. What did we expect?
Each president has had his scandals but they seldom hurt the president unless his personal involvement is proven. The keyword here is proven. The all-powerful Obama has escaped that burden on the political sacrifices made, perhaps required, by others on his behalf or who do his bidding as if by rote. In a government gone rogue, one hand feeds the other on the misdeeds performed by both.
Americans are outraged on the lies, deceit, cover up, and corruption of government gone rogue. Our only tools to reverse the power it placed in the hands of a leader gone rogue are impeachment or Congressional challenge. The former is not likely. The latter puts politicians at fear for losing their own hallowed political careers.
An estimated 47% of Americans are not outraged at all. If they think anything, they think the president is just doing his job. There are too many at the trough to venture biting any hand that feeds them. They prefer to remain in a state of ideological delusion. “What does it matter?” rings in responses of unconscious dependents who care only about continuing to receive the free stuff.
Obama will likely survive the scandals despite the outrage of affronted Americans. He will continue to say that he personally did not know about any of the scandals. After all, he just hears it on the news. Of course, that is simply not credible, but Obama’s protectors are smart enough to leave no paper or electronic trails to follow. As an example, no one will say where Obama was for the 10 or so hours after he knew about the attack in Benghazi.
The question is whether he will be neutralized for his remaining term via the 2014 elections and distracted by continued scandal from advancing the leftist ideology to further extremes.
