Raleigh native Chesson Hadley is well on his way to earning a PGA Tour card for next year thanks to a hometown win last month at the Rex Hospital Open.
Hadley’s two-shot win at TPC Wakefield Plantation was his first win on the Web.com Tour. But that win and four other Top 10 finishes this year has all but assured him a spot in the Top 25 money list and chance to play on the PGA Tour in 2014.
“Everything about this week was perfect,” Hadley said last month after his come-from-behind victory. “You couldn’t have drawn it up any better. I’m incredibly blessed.”
Hadley, who played golf at North Raleigh Christian Academy and Georgia Tech, is having a stellar year on the Web.com Tour.
He’s No. 3 on the money list with nearly $300,000 thanks to his Rex Hospital Open win, a runner-up finish at the Mid-Atlantic Championship and two third-place ties at the BMW Charity Pro-Am and the Midwest Classic.
He is behind Micheal Putnam and Edward Loar on the money list. Putnam has two wins on the season, and Loar has one.
Next up for Hadley is this weekend’s Mylan Classic at Southpointe Golf Club in Canonsburg, Pa.
