It is quite rare that a negative review penetrates from this Long Island Hair Care column. If a product isn’t recommended, it will simply not be written up, however, as a professional hairstylist, it needed to be told that the Alterna Caviar CC Cream is not what it professes to be.
During a recent excursion into the much-loved Sephora in Garden City, a sample of Alterna Haircare’s Caviar CC Cream was provided in the shopping bag. Having not yet sampled the beauty product after writing about Katie Holmes signing on as the hair care company’s newest spokesperson, I was looking forward to trying it on for size.
Tapping into the latest craze of BB and CC creams, the aptly named Caviar Cream seems like marketing genius, but that is where the hair care product falls short. It may be aimed at the latest beauty trend, but it does not follow through on the promise of 10-in-1 Complete Correction as a Leave-In Hair Perfector.
Following the directions completely, applying a small amount to damp, clean hair and then styling and also using as a style finisher, the hair felt dirty, weighed down and knotty, which was baffling because my hair never gets knotty. There was no additional moisture, shine, smoothness, softness, and manageability after using as the Alterna packaging promised. And at $25 for a 2.5-ounce bottle, the Caviar CC Cream is most certainly not worth the price.
Sorry fans of Alterna, this hair care product isn’t up to par, even after using it for a week, trying to give the Caviar CC Cream the benefit of the doubt. The packaging states transformation after just one use, but it just fell flat.
With so many great hair care products to choose from touting the same benefits as Alterna’s it is recommended to spend your money elsewhere. You may email the author for ideas on what would work best for your hair.
