The word free gets our attention like no other word. It is something we all like. The UCLA Hammer Museum will present three free concerts on Thursday evenings in August as part of its JazzPop series. The first show will be on August 8 as Creative Undergound will feature Slumgum and the Daniel Rosenbloom Group.
The next show features San Francisco bassist Lisa Mezzacappa’s trio featuring Fay Victor. That will be on August 15. The last of the three free shows on August 28 hosts Burn List featuring trumpeter Cuong Vu. All shows start at 7:30pm. Parking is available under the museum for a flat fee of $3.00 after 6pm. The address is 10899 Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles. You can get more information about the shows from the Hammer Museum website http://www.hammer.ucla.edu.
There is still six more weeks of summer and if you haven’t been to a concert, there is still time. There are so many great venues for concerts in southern California. Just pick one and go. The website: http://www.lajazz.com is a great site for information about all things jazz. Check it out.
