From 1000 Island Skydeck you can see nearly 40 miles on a clear day. The 400-foot observation tower yields impressive views of the Thousand Islands. Of three observation decks, the glass enclosed first level takes just a 40 second elevator ride.
1000 Island Skydeck is situated on Hill Island between spans of the Thousand Islands International Bridge at 716 highway # 137 Hill Island, Lansdowne, Canada. The Skydeck is 30 minutes from Canada’s capitol in Ottawa, and halfway between Toronto and Montréal.
The 1000 Island Skydeck was opened for a new season April 22nd. The facility is handicapped accessible, with free parking and a gift shop for souvenirs.

The ‘Thousand Islands’ were given the name by an early French explorer, although there are more than 1,700 islands. These islands in the St. Lawrence River range in size from mere rock points to village size. Most have space for a summer camp, home or even castles.
Vacationers are drawn to the Thousand Islands by its wide range of attractions. Hill Island is one of the 1000 Islands and a sanctuary for many rare endangered species. This includes the black rat snake, lady slipper orchids, the bald eagle, wild turkeys, and the park’s symbol “the pitch pine”. The Thousand Islands is known for its fine fishing with Muskie, trophy pike and walleye, large and smallmouth bass.
Within the Thousand Islands St. Lawrence Islands National Park consisting of 21 units scattered within the St. Lawrence River. Grass Point State Park is 6 miles southwest of Alexandria Bay and Keewaydin State Park 2 miles south west.
Alexandria Bay is a village within Jefferson County, New York USA. The village is on the south bank of the St. Lawrence River where route 12 and route 26 intersect north east of US 81. It was settled in 1817 with a current population of 1,078 growing in summer to over 15,000.
Twelve miles south of Alexandria Bay is the community of Clayton on route 12 with a population of 1,978 at 276’ elevation. Clayton Island tours can be taken from its dock, which is a great way to experience the Thousand Islands.
1000 Island Skydeck is a 3 hour drive of 180 miles from Rochester NY.
Drive east on I-90 thruway to Syracuse then US 81 north past Watertown following signs to the Canada border. Once you pass through Canada customs, 1000 Island Skydeck is 600 yards ahead on the right. Be sure to bring proof of citizenship with either a Passport or Enhanced Driver’s License.
