Beer lovers in the greater Houston area have much for which to be grateful. The number of breweries continues to increase at a steady pace. Restaurants and taverns have expanded their craft beer menus and beer- themed events continue to be scheduled at a record pace. Beer festivals are on the rise as well and Houston has a large beer festival planned for June. Here is some background information.
Event: Houston Beer Festival
Date and Time: June 8, 2013 from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Location: Hermann Square Park, 900 Smith St., in downtown Houston
Houston Beer Festival is now in its third year and it plans to make this third appearance in downtown Houston its best and most memorable yet. There will be plenty of beer to sample, with products available from local breweries such as Karbach, Fort Bend, Saint Arnold, Buffalo Bayou, etc., as well as beers from other Texas craft breweries and even a few macro-breweries such as Pabst and Anheuser- Busch InBev. The idea is to bring the great taste of beer to the masses, with products that represent a wide range of tastes.

Great beer would be reason enough to attend any festival, but the beer is only the beginning. Food will be served by area vendors and plenty of water and non- alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase. Some fun activities such as a competitive beer pong and Flipadelphia game will keeps guests entertained, with prizes awarded to the winning teams. And the air will be filled with the sound of great tunes from 18 different bands playing at different times throughout the afternoon and evening on one of four different stages.
The cost for tickets to the Houston Beer Festival is $25 for general admission and $15 for designated drivers. Those who want the red carpet treatment can purchase a VIP tickets for $150 ($30 for designated driver VIP), which include access to a wider variety of food plus some unique beer products not available to the rest of the crowd.
