South Florida summers are notorious for many things; soaring temperatures, air thick with humidity, midday thunderstorms and bugs – namely, ants.
As the ground gets soaked outside, these little pests make a beeline for our homes. Once inside, they have one mission: to eat and gather as much food as they can. A dish of pet food is an easy and convenient target.
The answer to this problem is the Antser ant-proof barrier. This two-piece plastic platform keeps ants and other crawling pests away from food dishes without the use of pesticides or baits.
The bottom piece serves as sort of a moat. Simply fill it with water and a teaspoon of dish soap to prevent bacteria from forming. This water barrier is then concealed by the cover, a 9″ x 13″ surface that is a perfect place to house your cat’s food dish. When ants try to climb the Antser, they end up in the water. This short video show how it works.
I first discovered the Antser approximately seven years ago. Each of my cats has their own. In all of this time, there has not been one ant in their food – not even during the worst infestations.
The Antser is also a great for garbage cans, plants, picnic foods and just about anything that needs to be protected from ants and other small bugs.
The Antser, made in a certified green facility right here in the U.S.A., retails for $26.95 and is available through theantser.com and on Ebay.
