That is the most preposterous statement anybody could make, even the president of the United States. Trayvon Martin could have been anybody, also, but not the son of the president either. Any time anything major happens, we as humans seem to want to fantasize that we could have been a part of what is happening. Trayvon could have been anybody, but he wasn’t . We always want to invoke God’s name into these circumstances also. There are a lot of what ifs, but those what ifs are just fantasy.
It was completely inappropriate of the president to say “I could have been Trayvon Martin”. The only reason he made that statement is to stir up racial violence, something that has been on the increase since he took office eight years ago. Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and now Barack Obama, all seem to make it a point to insert racial uneasiness into every situation that would suit their fancy. It will make them look like they are big stuff, but they are not. Jackson, and Sharpton, are supposedly pastors or ministers, they should know better than to stir up trouble among innocent people.
After the racial tensions of the sixties, we have not learned the lesson that we are all Americans, and we should refer to each other as Americans, not black, not white or any other color under the sun. We are all Americans, we pledge allegiance to the same flag, we obey the same laws, we live under one Constitution. Those minute individuals who choose to stir up racial tension do not deserve to be called Americans. Many times they are not deserving of being called humans. And now, what makes everything worse, when a person is found innocent of murder or manslaughter, the so-called victim will try to force the court to find the innocent party guilty through other means, such as a “wrongful death suit”. This is a form of double jeopardy that jealous, weak minded people involve themselves in. This is also a form of “legal” robbery of the innocent.
If the parents were good parents, they would know where their child is at all times. They would also have their child at home and not wondering the streets. Case in point, Trayvon was found to have had marijuana in his system. Do the parents know where he got this drug? Many children are put in this kind of danger everyday. They turn up missing, many are found dead days later, and even months later. Now they want to also charge Mr. Zimmerman with child abuse.
America needs to wake up, stand up, and do what is right for a change. We are a people who believe in the Bible, or should, and we are a people who have a constitutional right to defend ourselves. Uneducated people should learn to respect each other, and if they are wrong, they should take responsibility for their actions. It is time we act as the caring people we purport to be, and not stir up trouble for no reason at all. America should be known as the best country to live in; it’s too bad we have criminals who take advantage of any bad situation.
