Last night’s episode of “Ink Master” was titled “Thrills for Grills.”Dave Navarro is back as host with his two other expert judges, Oliver Peck and Chris Nunez. Last week Frank McManus was the first artist to be eliminated when he did a gorilla tattoo with a large open mouth, gnarly teeth and a disfigured tongue.
The rest of the field competing are: Ally Lee, Chris May, Craig Foster, ES, Jackie Jennings, Jason Clay Dunn, Jime Litwalk, Joey Hamilton, James Danger, Joshua Hibbard, Kyle Dunbar, Maddie La Belle, Made Rich, Mystical Mike and Tatu Baby.
When the episode opened, the players who were called into the elimination returned with the group, with Frank not among them. Some could not believe that Mystical Mike was still there as he revealed that he only had one machine to use in the competition.
For the flash challenge, the group went to an antique car storage facility. Today’s special guest judge was Tennessee Titans former Offensive Player of the Year, Chris Johnson. They showed them his customized car and for today’s challenge, they have to create a customized grill, and they must work in teams of three. Because Tatu Baby won the best tattoo in the elimination competition, she got to choose the three for each team. When chosen, the teams had to design a new grill for the car they were assigned to, with “precision” the thing the judges will be looking for. With the proper tools for the metal working needed to complete the job. The winners were Jackie, Joey and James, who created a skull that looked awesome on the car. Now they have to power as a team to assign all human canvases for the elimination tattoo.
For the elimination, tattoo will be judged by the three regular judges and Chris Johnson, along with the viewers who can vote for the best tattoo. This tattoo will also be working with precision. They have to create an anatomical tattoo that will look like their skin was torn open and revealed the person’s insides.
They had the rest of the evening to confer with their canvases and one canvas wanted her tattoo in her armpit, a terrible place to do a tattoo. Joshua was given that one, because he seems to be all ego and a bit of a bully. The rest of the group, whether happy or not with the choices, was glad they did not get the armpit tattoo. The next day, they had six hours to complete the tattoos. When they were done, not all were anatomical, especially Mystical Mike’s tattoo, which was a giant musical note with his version of muscle tissue. It was a mess and as he spouted with medical terminology as he was being judged, he criticized the other artists. When they returned to their room while the judging was proceeding, his arrogance was not tolerated by Ally and Jackie. He did not even mention if he acquired more machines or is still working with the one. All in all, he is not a favorite of his fellow artists.
As the human canvases conferred, the three artists who were called out were, Craig, Chris, Maddie and Mike. The best of the day was Craig, who did an awesome tattoo. The human canvas jury voted Mike’s as the worst of the day and Mystical Mike was sent home and surely there will be no tears shed by the rest of the group on this episode of “Ink Master.”
