Thank you for this interview, Carol. Can you tell us a little about yourself and how long you’ve been writing?
I have always loved and writing. I have been writing for years. Life got in the way sometimes from my mother on home health care time to my husbands long illness. Yet even in such periods I was always making notes and thinking about the stories I wanted to tell.
Can you tell us briefly what your book is about?
A mother’s love is a powerful force of nature. Tina fights supernatural forces seeking justice for her daughter’s death. Donald chose evil as a boy now in spirit he continues to spread terror. The town of Pendale has a destructive force overshadowing it.
Why did you choose your particular genre?
True ghost stories interest me. I am a avid fan of spooky stories and movies. Stephen King is my favorite author. I remember as a child watching Dracula and hollering upstairs for my mother. She would call down to me and then I was okay to watch the rest of the movie.
What was your greatest challenge writing this book?
Avoiding cliché in explaining the ultimate source of the evil. I did not want to just say the devil made him do it.
Are you published by a traditional house, small press or are you self-published?
Was it the right choice for you?
I think it would be termed small press it is not self-publishing. I chose a print on demand because I think it offers a great way to get the works of many talented people out there. You have more control over your work and help through the process every step of the way.
How are you promoting your book thus far?
Through the social media and locally
How is that going for you?
It is a learning experience
Can you tell us one thing you have done that actually resulted in one or more sales?
Handing out my business cards to everyone I could locally.
Do you have another job besides writing?
If you could give one book promotion tip to new authors, what would that be?
Work at it everyday and don’t give up.
What’s next for you?
I am working on a second novel. It is just in its infancy and slow going because I am busy marking this one.
