Who can be a Hair Model?
Hair Modeling is an avenue that any girl can get into. Whether you are interested in getting into modeling or interested in just getting a new stylish haircut, Hair Modeling is a great way to gain a wonderful experience with trendy stylist.
Being a Fashion Catalogue and Hair Model, my first Hair Modeling assignment was for Wella Sebastion Studios in New York City. My second Hair Modeling assignment including getting a super short cut and taking photographs for an advertising poster for Reference of Sweden Hair Care Products in Cleveland Ohio. Both Hair Modeling assignments were enjoyable and I received a lot of experience of what it is like to be in the styling chair and behind the camera.
What to expect the day of the Hair Show or Hair Modeling Shoot?
If you are modeling for a Hair Show, expect to get your haircut in a rather edgy style. At the beginning of the show the lead stylists will ask you how short are you willing to get your hair cut? Typically, you want to be very honest. If you would like to keep your length tell them, shoulder length or just below. If you are open to getting it cut shorter, stylists LOVE cutting a super short edgy style and you’ll be the center of attention.
Expect to get your haircut and colored, so wear something dark and plain that is comfortable underneath a hair-cutting cape. Typically, the stylists will color your hair and then cut it. My favorite experience working with Wella Sebastion Studio was that they had put purple and blue highlights in my hair creating a rocker-chic look. My favorite experience about working with Reference of Sweden Hair Care Products was getting my hair snipped by lead stylist Dale Smith, who used wicked knife-scissors. Dale Smith was a mad artist snipping my hair away quickly.
When I did my hair modeling assignments I was very open to a short cut. For my next hair modeling assignment I am going to ask them to keep it a bit longer, perhaps shoulder length.
What to bring to the Hair Modeling Assignment?
Don’t bring any food or beverage items as water is usually provided. Bring dark heels that will match whatever wardrobe and makeup that they do you up in. When you are behind the camera you would like to have a pair of comfortable matching heels. Be sure to also bring a camera to take pictures of everything. You are able to make new model friends there and take many pictures together during your modeling experience. Typically, bring your cell phone just in-case the stylist asks for your number you can provide it and exchange numbers.
Are you right for Hair Modeling?
If you are comfortable socializing with stylists and modeling professionals and being behind the camera moving around- Hair Modeling is for you.
