Blake Johnson and two relievers limited the host Memphis Redbirds to just two hits as the Albuquerque Isotopes earned a 2-0 victory on Friday night.
Albuquerque (29-26) took three of four in the series and went 6-2 overall on its road trip against the Tennessee teams.
Johnson (5-3) allowed just singles to Kolten Wong and Greg Garcia while walking three batters and striking out five in seven innings.
The Isotopes gave him all the support he would need via Alex Castellanos’ leadoff home run in the fourth inning.
Justin Sellers’ two-out RBI single in the seventh provided some insurance.
Chris Withrow retired the side in the eighth, allowing just a two-out walk to Adron Chambers.
Josh Wall then earned his second save by striking out the side in the ninth inning.
The Isotopes will return home Friday at 7:05 p.m. to start a four-game series with the Oklahoma City RedHawks.
- The Dodgers recalled right-handed reliever Peter Moylan on Friday. Moylan had an opt-out clause in his contract for June 1 and could have become a free agent if he was not promoted to the major-league roster. The Australian went 2-1 with a 3.52 ERA and two saves in 17 games this season.
- To replace Moylan on the roster, Albuquerque activated right-hander Sean White from the disabled list. He went 1-4 with a 4.80 ERA in six starts earlier this year before being placed on the DL with a right lateral strain.
