Returning for the second time to Atlantic City, The Jacksons brought back their “Unity Tour” to The Music Box in The Borgata Hotel, Casino and Spa, Saturday evening, July 27, 2013 in Atlantic City, NJ.
The Jacksons still have many fans as The Music Box was filled with followers still anxious to see them perform once again. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame group had not toured together in twenty-five years, before the start of this tour one year ago. The group felt they had an obligation to see how their fans from the days of the Jackson 5 still responded to them without Michael, by creating a summer twenty city tour which included Atlantic City. According to Jermaine, “I am so happy and excited to perform again on stage with my brothers,” he said in a statement. “I can’t wait to sing all the songs that were so much a part of all of our lives.”
Tito, Jackie, Jermaine, and Marlon performed many original Jackson songs opening with “Can You Feel It” as a part of a six song opening set. The Jacksons had their fans dancing and singing when they performed Jackson 5 hits; “I Want You Back,” “ABC,” “Never Can Say Goodbye” and “I’ll Be There.” When, as a tribute to Michael, they included, “I Can’t Let Her Get Away,” “Wanna Be Starting Something,“ “Don’t Stop Till You Get Enough.” Jermaine performed a medley of solo hits that included, “Dynamite, Let’s get Serious” and “Do What You Do” as well as Jermaine singing “Gone Too Soon” as images of Michael appeared on the large screen at the back of the stage.
The twenty song set ended with a four song Encore. The brothers sang and danced to songs that fans of the Jacksons loved including “Can’t Let Her Get Away,” “The Palace Hotel, (Heartbreak Hotel,”) “Wanna Be Starting Something” and “Don’t Stop Till You Get Enough.” The stage show components tended not to be as huge as it might have been if Michael were there, but The Jacksons audience were still behind them for reuniting after twenty-five years, which shows the Jackson name can still draw a crowd.
“This tour is magical because we are family and we know how each other feels. It feels like it always felt, the same as it did a long time ago except this time it is without Michael on stage,” said Jackie Jackson. It goes without saying that Michael will be sorely missed forever to both the Jackson’s and his legions of followers.
