June is National Adopt-A-Cat Month. In celebration of this special month, we are featuring an adoptable cat each day of June. Today, we interviewed Arthur, an adoptable cat from Almost Home Foundation
Q: Arthur, your bio on the AHF website lists you as shy. Would you say that is an accurate description?
A: No, I love people. I follow my foster mom around all the time. I interrupt her when she is cleaning to get belly rubs. I do figure eights around her legs when she makes dinner. I sit next to her on the couch.
Q. So you are not at all shy?
A. Once I get to know someone, I am not shy at all. When I first meet someone, it takes me a little time to get to know them. I wouldn’t follow around someone I just met…… would you?
Q. Well no. I wouldn’t follow around someone I just met either.
A. People think that cats are different. People think that we instantly know all about a person the minute we meet them. It’s not true. It takes me some time to get to know a person, and a little more time for us to become best friends.
Q. How much time do you think it takes?
A. It depends on the person. If they are gentle and patient, it really doesn’t take long. If the person is loud and makes scary noises, it takes me longer to trust them. I’ve heard of cats being adopted and returned because they did not fit in instantly. I don’t understand that, because people do not fit in instantly either. It takes people some time to get to know other people.
Q. Very true. Arthur, do you ever dream of you forever home? What would it be like?
A. My forever family would understand that it takes time to become best friends. They would give me time to feel relaxed and loved, and in return, I would give them all the love that is inside of me.
Arthur, you are a delightful kitty. We hope you find your forever home soon.
