Young celebrities turn to social media to fight the hate and JWoww and Snooki are no different, using Instagram and Twitter in their Jersey Shore battle according to Extra TV on Wednesday.
The folks of Pelican Island are trying to ban the “Jersey Shore” spinoff starring besties, JWoww and Snooki. The crew of “Snooki & JWoww” has commandeered a home, beginning pre-production of MTV’s reality television show. However, twelve families have hired an attorney to thwart the progress.
Ron Gasirowski who represents the Members of the Pelican Island Property Owners Association told the press the community was not informed “Snooki & JWoww” would be filming in the restrictive residential area. Residents of Pelican Island only became aware when they saw production vehicles and equipment arriving.
James Byrnes, City Council President, stated he didn’t mind Snooki’s family vacationing in the small Jersey Shore town, however the timing is not right with the commotion a reality television show will bring as the area attempts to rebuild following Hurricane Sandy.
Responding to the negative press the show has been receiving, Snooki first tweeted that she would “go mama bear” and later captured a screenshot of a news report from Seaside Park and posted it on Instagram, telling the residents of the Jersey Shore community to grow up.
Unable (sic) how adults are trying to ban my son, fiancé and I from enjoying our summer at the shore. Grow up, get over yourself and move on. This is not how we should be treating one another. Absolutely sick and very sad. I pray for you. There’s much bigger things to worry about in life than trying to ban my family from your neighborhood.
JWoww supported Snooki’s comments on Twitter, further adding that they should “embrace the haters”.
Laughing so hard over these reports @snooki … Who would’ve thought 2 girls can piss so many people off. #embracethehaters
The Instagram photo has received over 89,000 likes, yet many of the comments under Snooki and JWoww’s posts supported the Jersey Shore town, with one woman, Irene2906 on Instagram, even suggesting the reality TV stars use all of the “ridiculously earned money to HELP them rebuild”. That sounds like a great compromise MTV.
Permits have been filed for the filming of “Snooki & JWoww”, however no official word if the television show will be banned.
