Lou Neglia’s Ring of Combat is back with another great stacked card. Lou Neglia’s Ring of Combat XLV (45) is taking place on June 14th at the Tropicana Casino and Resort in Atlantic City, NJ. Ring of Combat is one of the most well-known MMA promotions around, and has been around for over 10 years. This new card is just as packed with great fighters, as every other Ring of Combat fight card. The main event is a ROC Heavyweight Title fight featuring current ROC, XFE, and LITC Heavyweight Champion “Brutal” Brendan Barrett (8-5-1) trying to defend his ROC Title for the first time against contender, Joel Wyatt (8-5).
Barrett has made a name for himself in the Philadelphia MMA scene. Barret lost a Majority Decision to J.A. Dudley for the XFE Heavyweight Title back in 2011. Due to inactivity with XFE, Dudley was stripped of his title last year. Barret rematched Dudley 9 months later, defeating him in the first round at Mayhem on the Mountain winning their Heavyweight Title. Barret then went on to win the LITC Heavyweight Title, the vacated XFE Heavyweight Title, and the ROC Heavyweight Title in three consecutive bouts after that fight. This will be the first title defense for Barrett for any of those belts he has won. It’ll be interesting to see how he handles having the bullseye on his back now.
Wyatt has fought for multiple organizations including Locked in the Cage, Matrix Fights, and World Cagefighting Championships. He has even fought former Bellator Heavyweight Champion Cole Konrad. Seven of Wyatt’s eight victories were finishes, and six of those finishes came within the first round. Wyatt is not to be taken lightly against the Champion in this bout. This will definitely be a worthy main event.
Also on the card is TUF 8 Lightweight runner-up, former UFC and Bellator fighter, Phillipe Nover taking on Mike Santiago (10-6). Santiago is on a 2-fight win streak with 2 consecutive Rear Naked Choke Submission victories. Since getting cut by the UFC, Nover has gone 3-2 outside the octagon, including going 2-1 in Bellator. Nover’s last bout, he earned a Unanimous Decision over PA MMA fighter Darrell “The Saint” Horcher. This is a great co-main event, with some great fighters.
