Comedy-Magician Mac King celebrated 13 years of performing The Mac King Comedy Magic Show at Harrah’s Las Vegas with a special performance May 11 proving that a family show in the afternoon can succeed in Las Vegas.
While The Mac King Comedy Magic Show is family friendly, it is also a fun show for adults with audience interaction and zingers to keep everyone engaged. It was during his anniversary show King presented the newest member of the cast – Colonel Sanders – a lovable guinea pig.
After the anniversary show during an invitation only reception held in the Improv Comedy Club, Christian Stuart, Harrah’s regional vice president and assistant general manager, presented King with a cake and a proclamation from Mayor Carolyn G. Goodman naming May 11, 2013 “Mac King 13th Anniversary Day” in Las Vegas. King also received certificates of commendation from Governor Brian Sandoval and United States Senator Dean Heller to a big round of applause.
“Harrah’s Las Vegas is proud to have served as home to Mac King for the past 13 years. He is not only an exceptional entertainer who has entertained more than a million audience members since opening here at Harrah’s, but he is also an accomplished writer and an outstanding citizen who is an avid supporter of literacy programs. Harrah’s Las Vegas hopes to serve as his home several more years,” said Stuart.
King thanked everyone and then said, “When I first started at Harrah’s, I was in this room on this stage (the Improv Comedy Club) and a curtain was drawn in the room to make it appear smaller. My goal was to sell more tickets have the curtain open. Thanks to the press and Caesars Entertainment, I made it to the showroom upstairs.
“I am very honored and grateful to be celebrating my 13th anniversary and I feel lucky to have landed here at Harrah’s Las Vegas. I have made several mighty great pals in this city and it’s because of you I am able to continue doing what I love to do – perform magic,” said King.
“In fact, 13 years ago, my wife Jennifer was pregnant so it was good I got a job.” After the laughter, King’s daughter Elizabeth came on stage.
“In honor of 13 years of doing the show and being the best dad in the world, we got you 13 roses,” and then she hugged her father to another round of applause.
Celebrities on the red carpet included the cast of Million Dollar Quartet, the cast of Chippendales, Maren Wade from iCandy Burlesque, Mark Shunock from Rock of Ages and his wife Cheryl Daro, Eric and Jayne Post from Marriage Can Be Murder, and , Defending the Caveman’s Kevin Burke.
