Fashion extravaganza starring Sheryl Crow with a performance by Cirque du Soleil, benefiting Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana
Chicago, IL – July 2013 — Macy’s Passport Presents Glamorama 2013 celebrates this year’s theme, Fashion In A New Light, at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance on Friday, Aug. 9 at 8 p.m.. Multi-talented singer, songwriter, record producer and musician Sheryl Crow, known for such hits as “All I Wanna Do” and “Strong Enough,” will headline the annual event.
The Entertainment Sheryl Crow received widespread acclaim when she exploded onto the music scene with her seven-time platinum debut album, “Tuesday Night Music Club” and continued her success with the release of seven studio albums, each charting Top 10 and four albums hitting platinum-plus. Her current chart-climbing hit single “Easy,” is off her forthcoming new album due out in September. To date, Crow has sold more than 35 million records worldwide. This year’s show also features a performance by Cirque du Soleil, a group that has brought wonder and delight to more than 100 million spectators in more than 40 countries on six continents. The group of more than 1,000 performers is known for its high-quality artistic entertainment that aims to invoke the imagination and provoke the senses. Featuring eight unique shows in Las Vegas and one in Orlando,FL, Cirque du Soleil will showcase its Las Vegas productions at Macy’s Glamorama this year. Also set to perform is Macy’s iHeart Radio Rising Star contest winner, The Summer Set, two Arizona-based brothers that formed a punk rock group writing tunes inspired by Jimmy Eat World and The Format.
The Fundraising Cause This over-the-top event will once again benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana (RMHC®-CNI). “The Ronald McDonald House is a home-away-from-home for families of children with complex medial needs. Macy’s is proud to again partner with this outstanding organization that provides hope and support to families in need,” says Martine Reardon, chief marketing officer for Macy’s.
The Fashions The audience will experience the best of fall 2013 fashions set against a visually stimulating and musical backdrop, with collections by: Diesel, Jean Paul Gaultier, Philosophy, Rachel by Rachel Roy, Tallia, Tommy Hilfiger, Weekend MaxMara, as well as a first look at Macy’s newest Impulse collection, Maison Jules, launching at Glamorama in Chicago.
The Models Models’ looks will be completed with make-up by Lancôme. Mike Gansmoe, Macy’s vice president of Special Productions, said, “Through the decades, the look and face of fashion is ever-changing. Seen through the various lenses of history, pop music, culture, politics, science and technology, fashion has taken on a different face in the light of each of these areas. Macy’s Passport Presents Glamorama 2013 looks at fashion in a new light by way of exploring the mystery and magic of illumination, incorporating sophisticated lighting and visual effects.”
The After-Party Following the light-themed show at the Harris Theater, experience the illuminated after-party on the Rooftop Terrace at Millennium Park. Refined, sophisticated illuminations will lend to the after-party décor theme. Relax in ultra-cool sponsor lounges, interact with over-the-top activities, and enjoy a vast array of delicious culinary creations and special libations guaranteed to light up your taste buds.
The Proceeds Proceeds from the event, more than $500,000 since 2008, will support the new Ronald McDonald House near Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana is expected to break ground on a fifth house in 2014 near Central DuPage Hospital.
