On May 19, Madonna took the Billboard Music Awards’ Top Touring Artist’ prize as presented by Will.i.am in Las Vegas. The legendary performer was present for the 2013 festivities held at the MGM Grand’s Garden Arena wearing yet another of her controversial ensembles while accepting the evening’s premiere award.
To be sure, it was a big night in the Nevada desert when the inimitable artist was heralded in the inimitable city often known for its array of sensational shows and yes, its sin, too. As a bonus in Las Vegas on Sunday, Madge was her witty self as she started her acceptance speech, asking Will.i.am to hold her award and her “pretentious sunglasses” while she spoke.
By way of background, Madonna won the award because, according to Business Wire via Yahoo! Finance, her worldwide MDNA concert tour was “one of the most spectacular and controversial extravaganzas of 2012…” Some 2.2 million fans of this enduring artist were privy to a whopping 88 global shows, all of which were sold out. In total, MDNA grossed more than $305 million.
And so, on Sunday, Madonna was rewarded for her hard work at the Billboard Music Awards 2013. However, before the woman of the hour was asked to ascend the stage, television viewers who were watching on ABC and those who were present in the house were shown a spitfire video highlighting scenes from this talent’s eventful MDNA tour.
That happened on big screens at the MGM Grand’s Garden Arena before the Material Girl was invited to the podium. When this legend finally found her mark, her initial remarks were vintage Madonna. For instance, the always aware entertainer confessed, “It took longer to negotiate whether I could show my a** in that trailer than it took to rehearse for [the entire MDNA 2012] tour.
Apparently, this diva wasn’t about to change her mode of sartorial selection, not during the tour and not when it came to what the singer wore to the music-filled gathering on May 19. Indeed, for her most recent fashion effort on Sunday night, she apparently didn’t need to negotiate what she was wearing, not with the fans and not with ABC, who put the show on the air.
In fact, the mother of four rocked a dominatrix look that featured black garters, lots of strategic netting, finger free gloves, and no skirt or pants to the annual event. With that outfit on and with her in-your-face personality apparently appreciated, Madonna was in all her glory in Las Vegas on a night when music was on offer and when this music veteran was a big hit at the Billboard Music Awards 2013.
