McDonald’s restaurants in Dearborn, Michigan have stopped selling halal food. Halal is the Islamic equivalent of kosher. Both seem designed by the clergy to not only control people but also to bring in huge sums of cash for the clergy. Regarding halal, the increase in the price of food is estimated by Bruno El Kasri, the director of Nestlé’s French ethnic-food division, to be about 20%. (The cost of paying the clergy to make a product kosher adds about 20%-30%. Click here for our article on the kosher scam.)
Since both halal and kosher are based on ancient superstitions and myths made up by their respective ancient clergymen, they are loaded with ignorance and cruelty. For example, Leviticus 11:20 has God talking about four-legged fowls! (Click here for a Deism leaflet in PDF about this.)
Both halal and kosher slaughtering methods are cruel because they both inflict unnecessary pain and suffering on the animals. Both superstitions require the animal to be fully conscious and to have its throat slit while fully conscious. The clergy, who are used to their followers taking what they say on faith without applying their innate God-given reason, claim that this way of killing an animal causes no pain. However, science has proven this to be false. I’d like to see the clergy who promote this falsehood have surgery without first being rendered unconscious!
Most nations require that animals be rendered unconscious by stunning them prior to being killed. However, “revealed” religion raises its ugly head in this matter with exemptions to the rule of law. Just as people are allowed to let their sick and/or injured children die by withholding medical care from them if done for religious “reasons”/faith-healing, so the “revealed”/hearsay religionists are allowed by law to cruelly kill animals without first rendering them unconscious. It seems that where “revealed” religion is involved, innate God-given reason is thrown out the door.
All Deists can agree with Thomas Paine when he wrote in The Age of Reason, The Complete Edition, (for Kindle click here)”I detest everything that is cruel.” And all Deists know that the more we spread Deism the less cruelty there will be. Help us spread Deism far and wide by subscribing to our monthly Deism web-zine Deistic Thought & Action!. Click here to learn more! As Henry David Thoreau said, “There are a thousand hacking at the branches of evil to one who is striking at the root.” Deism allows us to directly strike the root of evil and cruelty.
