Q & A with Melissa Gorga
1. SK: What are your expectations for the party? Have you ever been to Shrine before, and how do you feel it might compare to the nightlife in New Jersey?
MG: “I have been to Shrine before and I love it there. It’s always so much fun and it does remind us of New Jersey nightlife as the crowd has the same high energy. One thing I love is the Boston accents! I think it’s going to be a great night with everyone decked out in white and Joe and I are really looking forward to it.”
2. SK: With everything that’s going on in your life, how do you handle stress? Who/what do you rely on to keep you grounded?
MG: “I rely on my family to keep me grounded. I am a wife and mother first. Joe and I love to work hard and play hard. We try to always look at what is positive around us and focus on that rather than stress over things. ‘
3. SK: What can you tell me about your book that’s set to release in September?
MG: “I am so excited about my first book! So many people ask us how Joe and I stay so into each other and keep our relationship fresh. In “Love Italian Style: The Secrets of My Hot and Happy Marriage” I share some of our tips to making it all work. Joe even adds his “Joe-ments” and advice throughout the book. Whether you’re a newlywed or married for 40 years, I think there’s something for everyone. I can’t wait for everyone to read it.”
4. SK: What are the next steps for your musical career?
MG: “I am working with music manager Johnny Wright and recorded a new song called “Never Let Me Go” that you will see me record this season on the show. I actually just performed the song live in Florida at Red Hot & Boom during the fourth of July in front of a huge crowd and it was incredible. The song is started is starting to play on the radio and I’m really excited to see where we go next.”
5. SK: Who/what is your inspiration for your music?
MG: “Joe is definitely my inspiration when writing certain songs like How Many Times, but really I am inspired by things that are going on in my life. Sometimes it’s not at all about my life and I use music as a way to escape. I just feel really blessed to be able to pursue my passion for music and dance. It’s definitely something that takes a lot of hard work, but it’s something that I truly love doing.”
6. SK: If you could collaborate with any musician, who would it be?
MG: “I’m loving Pharrell Williams right now.”
