Memorial weekend is here and regardless of what coast you live on or if you’re somewhere in the middle, if you’re looking for fun activities, I’ve put together a quick list of festivals that will satisfy your need for fun, art, music, culture and/or craziness.
Electric Daisy Carnival – Chicago, IL
North America’s largest electronic dance music festival, Electric Daisy Carnival, is a festival that boasts nearly 30 full-sized carnival rides, six massive stages (including the largest stage built in North America), 450 theatrical and dance performers, special effects, fire displays, water works, and illuminated art, more than 150 artists, and 13 fully interactive art installations. This weekend the festival lands in Chicago at the Chicagoland Speedway.

18th Annual Lower East Side Festival of the Arts – NYC
Poets, playwrights, puppeteers and other performers in and around the Lower East Side will partake in this annual gathering centered at the Theater for the New City. For hours and more information visit their website.
Bayou City Art Festival – Houston, TX
This art festival is an annual, juried, outdoor fine art event brimming with 300 artists working in 17 artistic media, wine cafés, an interactive Creative Zone for children, restaurants, The Art Bar, and a performing arts stage with on-going multicultural musical and dance entertainment . The 6th Annual JAC Jazz Series – Charleston, SC
This series showcases Charleston’s premiere jazz musicians, along with regionally, nationally and internationally acclaimed artists. There will be two sets, 7 pm and 10 pm and each set is approximately 75 minutes in duration. Food and beverages will be available for purchase during the show. Seating is first come, first serve. Spoleto Festival – Charleston, SC
Also running Charleston is the Spoleto Festival. Recognized as America’s premier performing arts festival, Spoleto runs from May 24 – June 9.
