Rosemary Ellis interviewed Meredith Vieira for the June 2013 Good Housekeeping cover story, “Meredith ‘Fesses Up.”
Meredith was a TODAY show co-anchor and the host of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. Now, she is a special correspondent for NBC News.
When Meredith was covering the Olympics, she had a painful and swollen thumb. Doctors could not diagnose her mystery illness. After the Olympics, she found a lump in her throat. When she found out it wasn’t cancerous, she started jumping for joy and she broke two of her toes.
Meredith’s husband, Richard Cohen, has had cancer twice and he has multiple sclerosis.
In her spare time, Meredith enjoys walking, reading, watching TV, spending time with her friends and her dog Jasper. When it comes to cleaning and organizing, Meredith is a procrastinator.
The most surprising thing about Meredith is that she never felt anything she did was good enough. At age 59, she regrets that she was so hard on herself for years.
