According to a May 31 report from CupcakeTate.com, Miesha Tate is annoyed that Kim Winslow may be called upon to ref during “The Ultimate Fighter 18.”
“I think she sucks as a referee,” Tate told told MMAjunkie.com Radio (www.mmajunkie.com/radio). “I heard she’s going to be refereeing this season, and I think that sucks, too.”
Tate doesn’t like Winslow because she feels her fight against Cat Zingano was stopped prematurely.
“[Zingano] caught me with probably two solid knees, I blocked the elbows, and I tried to go in for a shot,” Tate said. “It wasn’t the best shot in the world. But I had won the first two rounds pretty decisively. So I didn’t feel I was on this downhill [slope] this whole time. I was just having a slow third round.”
Responding to Tate’s criticism via email, Nevada State Athletic Commission Executive Director Keith Kizer said any NSAC-approved referee could be called to officiate at “TUF 18,” and added, “people sometimes need to complain when they lose. No offense taken by me or Kim.”
Late last month, Tate took to her official Facebook page to put Winslow on blast for the stoppage.
“Can’t help my nose bleeds a lot still frustrated at the stoppage, think the ref freaked because of blood when she should have been focusing on the fact that I was still perfectly coherent and shooting for a takedown after two solid knees landed I was still in the fight and up on the score cards,” Tate said. “Can’t pay enough respect to Cat [Zingano] she’s a warrior and I’d love the honor of fighting her in the future again but not with Kim Winslow as the ref.”
