On July 26, 2013, just 4 days after a massive social media and in person manhunt was conducted during daylight hours by family, friends, strangers, police and dogs, missing Liberty, Missouri, runner’s body is possibly found.
From the Facebook page created to gather help and support to find Rogers, the administrator posted, “PLEASE SHARE: Friends, it is with a very heavy heart that I communicate that the Liberty Police Department has tentatively located the body of Chad Rogers. The cause is not known at this time. The search has been called off. Please give the family space over the next few days as they process through the difficulty of this time. In the coming days there will be information regarding contributing financially toward the family. We will post when we have that information.
Thank you for your search efforts over the last 4 days. You’ve been very helpful throughout the process.
– Tim Fritson”
From the Kansas City Star online, “ A construction worker discovered the body about 11 A.M. near where the Flintlock Flyover overpass is being built above Interstate 35 in southern Liberty, near South Valley Junior High School.
The site is about 2 miles from where searchers spent several days trudging through high grass, weeds and woods looking for signs of Rogers, whom search dogs had tracked to that rural area.
The body has not been confirmed as that of Rogers, Sgt. Bob Kumpost said Friday afternoon. Police did not know a cause of death and did not know how long the body had been there.”
A news conference has been schedule for Friday afternoon from the Liberty police department and the Rogers family.
