This will have you humming “New York, New York.” Mondrian SOHO hotel’s SOAKED seasonal rooftop cocktail bar and lounge will open May 30. After pioneering the “Orchard to Bar” concept in 2012, Soaked returns for the season to offer fresh cocktails.
The 2,500 square-foot indoor and outdoor penthouse (the hotel has 270 impeccably furnished guestrooms) will be transformed into an “Orchard in the Sky” featuring extensive natural landscaping, oversized planters and a rooftop grass meadow. Beneath hundreds of antique light bulbs suspended above the space, guests can relax in the custom teak furniture, with north and south-facing terraces that combine to provide sweeping views of downtown Manhattan.
Conceptualized by entrepreneur Jesse Itzler, co-founder of Marquis Jet Partners and investor in Zico Coconut Water, SOAKED incorporates fresh and organic ingredients to create cocktails without excess sugars and artificial flavors. This season, Morgans Hotel Group is elevating the SOAKED experience, and further embracing the healthy living concept through new partnerships with The Squeeze and DAVIDsTEA.
The Squeeze, a wellness and beauty lifestyle company best known for their cold-pressed, 100 percent organic juices, has designed custom juice blends exclusively for SOAKED’s all-natural specialty cocktail menu.
The juice-based cocktail menu will include the Green Margarita made with Avion Blanco Tequila, Grand Marnier, Apple, Mint and Fresh Lime; the Honeydew Martini made with Hendrick’s Gin, Cucumber, Honeydew, Algae and Fresh Lime; and the Soaked Pina Colada For 2 made with Bacardi Rum, Coconut, Fresh Lime, Guava and Homemade Coconut Cream, served in a Coconut.
SOAKED will also offer hghly concentrated Vitamin Booster shots including the Immune Booster made with Ginger and Tumeric Juice, Ginger Syrup, Kaffir Lime and Absolut Vodka; and the Energy Booster made with Coconut Water, Acai Berries, Goji Berries and Aloe Vera.
DAVIDsTEA, will integrate its popular iced tea blends into summer cocktails. SOAKED’s tea-based cocktails will include the Matcha Mojito made with J.M. Rhum Agricole, Matcha Tea Powder, Coconut Water, Fresh Lime and Mint; the Soaked Pisco Sour made with Kappa Pisco, Hibiscus, Cinnamon and Tropical Fruits; and the Love Oolong Time made with Iichiko Shochu, Oolong Tea, Jasmine Flowers, and Lemon Myrtle.
In addition, SOAKED this season will introduce tableside beverage service with The Soaked Lemonade Stand. The mobile cart will feature a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic handcrafted, fruit and herb lemonades, muddled to perfection in front of their eyes.
